概要	概要 Japan is a country rich in forest resources, but domestic timbers cover only 17 % of the total demands. Forestry has been suffering difficulties over 30 years. Many silvicultural regions are decaying or at the peril of perishing. In this essay, the effective economic activities with forest resources and the challenges to be overcome are to be presented and examined through the analysis of empirical evidence on the enterprises and management of the private forests and the common forests in Japan.
