| 概要 | 概要 The employment of the present tense as the primary mode for narratives is a recent trend. This paper reveals a stylistic feature of present tense narrative by the use of a keyword analysis based on two corpora: one comprised with present tense narratives and the other with past tense narratives. One pronounced feature of the present-tense corpus is the high keyness of the modal verb 'will'. The concordance lines of 'will' in the present-tense corpus show that 'will' reflects the viewpoints of both a character and the narrator to whom the consequences of the present events or actions are unknown. 特記事項 This research is supported by JSPS KAKENHI 20216485 |
