概要	This paper aims to understand the risk of upgrading strategy by analyzing the strategic coupling between the Taiwanese flat panel display (FPD) industry and its Japanese counterpart. Strategic coupling between the Taiwanese FPD industry and Japanese firms gave a critical advantage to the Taiwanese FPD industry, yet simultaneously, Taiwanese firms were forced to become technologically dependent on Japanese firms.
