概要	The purpose of this paper is first to explain how municipal solid waste management functions in one Japanese city, with a focus on the ways municipal and national waste regulations and infrastructure intersect with and influence residents' daily lives; and second, to identify and explore key themes that arise from this background, in particular the way that waste and waste work interacts with gendered social identities and the role of waste/work in local community building.
