概要	This study examined: (1) whether groups that self-reported early exposure to English, either inside or outside of kindergarten and/or school during early childhood or elementary school, have a larger receptive vocabulary size during three years of high school, as measured longitudinally, and (2) the growth of receptive vocabulary size over three years of high school. 252 students (one grade, all 7 classes) at S high school responded an “English Learning History Questionnaire” at the time of high school entrance, and took the Mochizuki’s (1998) Vocabulary Size Tests four times during their three-year high school days with intervals of about 9 – 12 months. The longitudinal data on vocabulary sizes were analyzed by way of hierarchical model using Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) estimation” and the “hierarchical model using maximum likelihood (ML) estimation.”
