概要	This study aimed to examine the students’ preferences for synchronous online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic by administering a questionnaire. A total of 50 first-year, 30 second-year, 40 third-year, and 27 fourth-year students at the Department of English in a private university responded. Considering the students’ inclination for brick-and-mortar or online classes, we found that (1) they were slightly affected by the school year; (2) they were hardly affected by the differences in class content (subjects), but as an exception, the first-year students preferred brick-and-mortar classes in English Speaking and Integrated English taught by native English speakers; (3) they were likely not to be affected by the differences pertaining to sex; (4) the length of commuting time had no effect; and (5) students’ TOEIC IP scores had no effect. None of the students’ attributions (school year, sex, commuting time) and English skills affected their preferences for online classes.
