概要	This paper examines the social resilience of small-scale urban spaces in Seoul and Auckland, asking not only whether they survive urban change, but resilient for whom. Drawing on field observation, visual analysis, archival research, and literature, it compares Seoul’s historic alley districts with Auckland’s laneways, verandahs, and civic spaces. While Seoul retains a more continuous alley network, Auckland’s heritage is expressed through dispersed, human-scale environments. In both cities, resilience depends on whether spaces sustain informal exchange, repeated encounters, and the everyday lives of residents, workers, and small businesses. The paper considers implications for Tokyo’s roji, arguing that urban conservation should be judged not simply by what survives, but by who benefits.
